The International Credit Insurance & Surety Association (ICISA) is pleased to announce the third edition of ICISA Trade Credit Insurance Week, taking place from 7 to 10 October 2024. This global virtual event will highlight the pivotal role that Trade Credit Insurance plays in supporting businesses, particularly SMEs, in today’s rapidly changing economic environment.

Throughout the week, leading industry experts and practitioners will discuss key developments, emerging challenges, and opportunities across the TCI landscape. The event promises insightful discussions across eight online sessions, covering topics that range from overcoming obstacles faced by SMEs to expanding TCI into new markets, and addressing critical issues like transparency in supply chains and the growing relevance of net zero strategies.

Sessions and speakers:

      • Keynote session: Strengthening SMEs – Overcoming obstacles with Trade Credit Insurance
Qamar Saleem (SME Finance Forum, IFC) and Richard Wulff (ICISA) will discuss the challenges faced by SMEs in today’s economy and the role TCI can play in fostering their growth.
      • Trading on credit – how businesses view credit and how TCI proves its worth
This session will focus on the important role credit plays in supporting economic activity – how do businesses manage risks, how do payment terms impact trade, and what role can regulation play in supporting business and increasing access to finance. Speakers include Svenja Hahn, MEP (Renew Europe Group), Leena Whitaker (Eurocommerce), and Carlos Muniesa (Atradius).
      • Latin America: Evolving credit insurance landscape
Experts Alejandro Santamaria (PASA) and Marcele Lemos (ALASECE) will explore the current developments in the Latin American credit insurance market.
      • Expanding horizons: Tapping into new markets for Trade Credit Insurance
A panel featuring Karim Nasrallah (Lebanese Credit Insurance), Nassourou Aminou (FCI), and Hassan Omaish (Allianz Trade) will discuss strategies for growing new markets and addressing diverse client needs.
      • Transparency in supply chains: Modern challenges and solutions
With regulatory pressures and growing ESG concerns, this session will focus on operational transparency and its benefits. Pamela Mar (ICC), Andrea Tang (FIATA), and others will share their insights.
      • Net Zero: How insurance supports the path to net zero
Fred Scriven and Oliver Herbert Williams from Howden will join ICISA TCI Week 2024 to discuss recent research with BCG on the role of insurance in mobilising investment to achieve Net Zero. They will also explore how the trade credit insurance sector can mitigate risks and unlock vital investments.
      • NCBR: Assessing the impact of Nuclear, Chemical, Biological, and Radiation Risk on credit insurance
Traditionally excluded from TCI, NCBR risk is now increasingly requested by clients. This panel, featuring Iwan Jenkins (AXIS Capital), Audrey Zuck (AZ Consulting) and others, will discuss why and how the industry can address this growing demand.
      • NCBR: All about data: Unlocking the future of trade, credit, and risk
Data drives decision-making across risk management, underwriting, and modelling in TCI. This panel will explore the evolving data landscape, the impact of digitalisation, and the tools needed today. Speakers include Joseph Mocachen (Allianz Trade), Gianluca D’Angelo (Worldbox), and Gertjan Kaart (FEBIS).

This year’s event promises to be a vital opportunity for anyone involved in international trade, credit insurance, and economic development.
