R+V Re operates as reinsurer in more than 90 countries, supports 1,100 clients with about 6,000 contracts worldwide. Treaty reinsurance in all non-life lines of business with special departments for Credit, Bonds and Political Risks as well as Aviation and Space is R+V Re’s offer. Facultative reinsurance in Property and Engineering completes the product portfolio.

With a premium income of over 3,4 billion EUR in 2024, R+V Re is placed among the top 7 European-based reinsurance companies. Not listed on the stock exchange, R+V Re is independent of short term market developments. The “A+ with stable outlook ” rating by Standard & Poor’s confirms their stability and financial strength. The underwriting approach of R+V Re strives to develop long-term relationships with clients.

R+V Re is part of R+V Versicherung AG, the parent company of R+V Group – one of the market leaders in the German insurance industry. R+V Group, owned by DZ Bank AG and local cooperative banks is the insurance unit of the number one cooperative financial services network in Germany, serving more than 30 million clients. The premium income (IFRS) of R+V Consolidated Group is more than 18.9 billion EUR in 2020. The insurance turnover (IFRS 17) of R+V Consolidated Group is more than 12.3 billion EUR in 2023.

History

1922 – Foundation of „Raiffeisen Allgemeine Versicherungsgesellschaft a.G.“ and Raiffeisen Lebensversicherungsbank a.G.“
1955 – The reinsurance activity was launched on 17th October 1955 with the foundation of the Rhein-Main Rückversicherungs-Gesellschaft AG in Wiesbaden.
1994 – On 31st December 1994 we merged with the Holding of R+V Group. Since that day R+V Re operates under the name of R+V Versicherung AG.
2007 – The non-life, non-group portfolio exceeded EUR 500 million in gross written premium.
2010 – The non-life, non-group portfolio exceeded EUR 1 billion in gross written premium.
2017 – The non-life, non-group portfolio exceeded EUR 2 billion in gross written premium.
2019 – The non-life, non-group portfolio exceeded EUR 3 billion in gross written premium.

Highlights

April 2018 – Standard & Poor’s affirms R+V Versicherung AG the existing rating of „AA- with stable outlook“ since November 2010.
September 2018 – AM Best ranks R+V Versicherung AG No 17 of Global Reinsurance Groups Non-Life.
December 2018 – The Credit, Bond and Political Risk Portfolio is the third largest line in the R+V Re book on a stable premium basis.

May 2022 – The rating agency Standard & Poor’s has rated the financial strength of R+V Versicherung AG as strong and confirmed their rating of A+ with stable outlook.
