Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) is Korea’s leading policy financial institution specializing in credit guarantees.

History

The Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) was established in 1976 by the Korean government to enhance SMEs’ access to finance and support economic growth.

Since its inception, KODIT has been at the forefront of financial innovation, continually strengthening credit support functions for small and medium-sized enterprises.

In 1995, KODIT introduced the Infrastructure Credit Guarantee scheme to facilitate financing for infrastructure projects, thereby expanding its role in supporting national development.

In 2000, KODIT launched the Primary Collateralized Bond Obligation (P-CBO) Guarantee program to assist SMEs and mid-sized companies in accessing capital markets directly.

In 2004, KODIT further enhanced support for SMEs by introducing the Accounts Receivable Insurance, aimed at mitigating the risks associated with delayed payments in commercial transactions and promoting stable business operations.

In 2005, KODIT diversified its financial support by implementing the Guarantee-aligned Equity Investment program, providing companies with broader growth opportunities beyond traditional credit guarantees.

In 2021, KODIT advanced its digital transformation and strategic management by implementing a comprehensive Information Strategy Plan, strengthening data-driven decision-making and institutional innovation.

In 2022, KODIT successfully hosted the Acsic Conference, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among credit guarantee institutions worldwide.

In 2023, KODIT launched the Green P-CBO Guarantee to support sustainable investments and promote ESG initiatives within the financial sector.

Looking ahead, in 2025, KODIT is scheduled to achieve significant milestones by securing its first international consulting contract from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and completing its first personnel dispatch to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), further solidifying its presence in global policy finance networks.
