Fiscal 2015 was the final year of the current Mid-term Management Plan, and by realizing merger synergies and improving profitability, primarily in automobile insurance, we succeeded both in reaching the initial plan and in building a foundation for future growth. This is due, in large part, to the support of our customers and others who have stood by us over the many years prior to the merger of Sompo Japan and Nipponkoa, support for which we are most grateful.
Recent advances in digital technologies together with climate change on a global scale are expected to be disruptive change in various business activities and our daily lives. We recognize that it is precisely because we live in times of such profound change that the P&C insurance business will become increasingly significant to society.

Under these conditions, we feel strongly that to continue supporting the lives and businesses of our customers with highest quality products and services, and to continue fulfilling our public mission as a P&C insurance business, we ourselves must continuously evolve by monitoring changes in our customers and approaching our business from the customer’s perspective.

Under our new Mid-term Management Plan, which begins in fiscal 2016, we will launch our Future Innovation Project. This project involves reforming business processes and system infrastructure to slim down operations and drastically improve productivity. We will also be proactive in introducing and utilizing cutting-edge digital technology to deliver new value to customers, with the goal of becoming the most highly evaluated P&C insurance company.
As the core company of the SOMPO Holdings Group, we will take on a wide range of businesses that contribute to the security, health and wellbeing of our customers, leading the Group in achieving its goal of always being the best customer service provider both at home and abroad.
