History
It was founded in 1963 as a state-owned company, the Korean Non-life Reinsurance Corporation. In 1978, the company was reorganized as a publicly owned company, Korean Reinsurance Company (KRIC). Since then, Korean Re has successfully executed a global expansion strategy. Over the decades, it has established overseas branches and subsidiaries in major global financial hubsโincluding London, Singapore, Dubai, Zurich, and the United Statesโsignificantly diversifying its portfolio and enhancing its global underwriting capacity.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors at Korean Re is committed to transparent corporate governance and sustainable growth. Comprising experienced professionals from the insurance and financial sectors, the board oversees strategic decision-making, risk management, and long-term objective alignment. Led by CEO Jong-Gyu Won, the board integrates the deep operational expertise of executive directors with the objective oversight of independent non-executive directors to ensure sound underwriting principles and maximize shareholder value.
