Switzerland ReinsuranceCatlin Re Switzerland Ltd, operating in the market under AXA XL, a division of AXA Group, is a multi-line reinsurer that writes Property and Casualty lines of business for clients based in Continental Europe, as well as Credit and Surety on a global basis. Through its Bermuda Branch, the Company also underwrites agriculture and structured risks on a global basis.
Our broad trade credit and surety bond know-how complements AXA XL’s global trade expertise, forming the cornerstone of our endeavours to be a partner of choice to primary underwri¬ters in these markets. In addition to being a member of ICISA, AXA XL is also affiliated with the following industry associations: Panamerican Surety Association PASA, Forum Cauzioni e Credito, and the Surety and Fidelity Association of America SFAA.

Our Trade Credit, Surety Bond and Political Risk reinsurance book includes around 155 clients domiciled in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, the US and Canada with over 375 treaty programs. AXA XL offers a comprehensive and flexible reinsurance product range that includes property, casualty and specialty cover, as proportional and non-proportional treaty business, as well as facultative cover.

History
The legal entity Catlin Re Switzerland Ltd was established in 2010 to provide European cedants with high-quality security for select classes of property, casualty and specialty reinsurance. When XL Group acquired Catlin Group in 2015, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of XL Group plc (which became XL Group Ltd) and part of the Group’s Reinsurance segment. XL Group Ltd was acquired by AXA SA in September 2018.
Catlin Re Switzerland Ltd is a licensed reinsurance company regulated by FINMA. Catlin Re Switzerland Ltd ratings are: Standard & Poor’s ‘AA-’ with a Stable outlook and A.M. Best A’ (Under Review Developing).
