SUMMARY:ICISA Webinars: The era of open data - challenges and opportunities presented by new regulation
DESCRIPTION:ICISA webinars are a series of monthly webinars that aim at tackling topics and challenges of the Trade Credit and Surety industries. \nThese webinars will be organised on the last Tuesday of each month\,  and will take about 60 minutes. Speakers of the webinars will be professionals from the industry and stakeholders of the industry offering additional inspiration and fresh ideas to mid-level staff of our membership and (when webinars are open to all) to the informed public around core topics in the industries we represent. \nNew regulations in the EU and elsewhere create obligations for companies to provide clients’ with access to their data\, including financial information. This creates certain challenges to businesses to ensure they are storing and protecting data adequately\, as wel as responding to requests. Equally\, it creates opportunities to utilise data in ways which can support new business too. In this edition of our monthly webinar series\, ICISA looks at recent developments in financial data access regulation\, open data and related topics to help you understand and adapt.  \nTo join this webinar\, please register below:

SUMMARY:ICISA Webinars: Understanding the Late Payments Regulation
DESCRIPTION:ICISA webinars are a series of monthly webinars that aim at tackling topics and challenges of the Trade Credit and Surety industries. \nThese webinars will be organised on the last Tuesday of each month\,  and will take about 60 minutes. Speakers of the webinars will be professionals from the industry and stakeholders of the industry offering additional inspiration and fresh ideas to mid-level staff of our membership and (when webinars are open to all) to the informed public around core topics in the industries we represent. \nThe European Commission recently proposed a new regulation to combat the negative impact of late payments in the EU. The key element of this would be capping payment terms for all European B2B transactions at 30 days and removing the possibility for businesses to negotiate longer terms where this may be beneficial. While late payment is a problem that disproportionately impacts SMEs\, ICISA and other industry bodies have highlighted that the loss of contractual freedom and capping payment terms without flexibility could have serious unintended consequences. In this important discussion\, we look at the proposals\, assess their impact and consider how the legislative process may play out.

SUMMARY:ICISA Webinars: Digitalisation of trade - the electronic trade documents act and beyond
The full list of topics and webinars organised by ICISA in 2023 is published here. \nRecent developments in the digitalisation of trade documents have the potential to improve transparency and efficiency in trade. This could speed-up commercial processes while also enhancing security and certainty around documentation. But it’s not without its complexity\, and ensuring coherent application of standards across the global economy is equally important. The latest in ICISA’s series of monthly webinars will explore this topic in more detail\, including an overview of the recently implemented Electronic Trade Documents Act in the UK\, as well as insight into the ICC’s important Digital Standards Initiative. \nSpeakers: \n\n\n\n\nChris Chatfield\, Partner\, Kennedys Law\n\n\n\n\n\nHannah Nguyen\, Director – Digital Ecosystems\, ICC Digital Standards Initiative

SUMMARY:ICISA Webinars: Measuring our Carbon Footprint: Applying the PCAF Insurance Standard to TCI & Surety
The full list of topics and webinars organised by ICISA in 2023 is published here. \nMay: Measuring our Carbon Footprint: Applying the PCAF Insurance Standard to TCI & Surety \nUnderstanding our impact on the world as businesses\, individuals and society as a whole has become a more urgent question in recent years. The impact of climate change has become more apparent in our daily lives through more extreme weather happening more frequently. Trade credit insurance and surety are central to some of the most important activities in the global economy and at a time of economic uncertainty\, the protection they provide becomes even more necessary. But what is our impact as an industry on the world around us? The first place to start with doing something to address climate change is to measure and understand our impact. The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) has developed standards for financial services firms to do assess and measure the carbon emissions related to their activities and in 2022\, launched their insurance standard. However\, given the way credit insurance and surety work\, understanding the relationship between the insurer and the source of the emissions is perhaps a little trickier than in more standard insurance lines. In this Webinar delivered by Marco Tormen\, Europe & DACHLI Regional Lead at PCAF we discuss PCAF’s approach and how the standard can be applied to TCI and surety. We also look at how their growing dataset can be used by participants for wider efforts to build sustainability into their business practices. \nAbout the speaker \n\nMarco Tormen joined Guidehouse in July 2021 as a Managing Consultant. He supports financial institutions in their transition into a carbon neutral economy by 2050. Marco leads the PCAF activities in Europe\, the Nordic countries\, the German speaking region and the re/insurance sector. Before Guidehouse\, he worked for 2 years at WWF Switzerland in the Sustainable Finance team. He was responsible for the engagement with Swiss insurances and the Swiss retail banks. This included projects to improve the environmental performance of mainly Swiss insurance companies as well as Swiss retail banks and the integration of sustainability within their core business. He also conducted the second retail banking rating of the largest 15 Swiss retail banks in 2021. Before WWF he worked for 8 years at Generali Group Switzerland as a fund analyst and selector as well as a team manager of the unit linked business which included the responsibility for EUR 7.4 bn AuM. \nHe gained his first experiences in the financial sector at a large Swiss retail bank (Raiffeisenbank) where he worked for 9 years in various positions\, including consulting (affluent) customers and leading the credit administration. Marco holds a bachelor in Business Administration with a specialization in Finance from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. He is further certified as a Certified International Investment Analyst (CIIA) and holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Digital Finance (University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich\, Switzerland). \n\nRegistration for this webinar can be done below.
